Jet Airways is a premier private airline in India holding the distinction and pride of being the second largest Indian airline, after Kingfisher.
Naresh Goyal is the chairperson and the founder of this airline. Jet Airways has won many awards in the service standards and has also received the certification of ISO 9001:2000 for in-flight services.
Two low-cost Jet Airways operate namely, JetLite that was earlier Air Sahara and Jet Airways Konnect. Jet Airways was founded as an air taxi operator on April1, 1992.
On May 5, 1993, the commercial airline operations initiated and the first fleet Boeing 737-300 aircraft was introduced.
In January 1994, Jet Airways applied for scheduled airline status as per the 1953 Air Corporations Act and received it in 1995.
With this, Jet Airways flights started their international operations and over the years have made their great presence in the international civil aviation industry and also are one of the renowned domestic airlines in India.
Jet Airways in April 2007, took over Air Sahara that was renamed as JetLite later. At present, JetLite is a subsidiary of this giant airline, Jet Airways.
Jet Airways introduced in May 2009, a low cost airline Jet Airways Konnect, after two years of JetLite inception with the aim of facilitating Indian customers.
Jet Airways Konnect employs the spare aircraft of Jet Airways, its parent company and this is done due to low passenger load factors.
However, JetLite and Jet Airways have individual operator codes.
Jet Airways, initially had 4 Boeing 737-300 aircrafts offering 24 daily flights serving 12 destinations.
The airline has over the years increased the daily flights numbers and also the fleet numbers. At present, Jet Airways is a public limited company operating 85 aircrafts. Its fleet of aircrafts includes 34 Boeing 737-800, 14 ATR 72-500, 10 Boeing 777-300ER, 12 Airbus A330-200, 2 Boeing 737-900 and 13 Boeing 737-700.
Jet Airways was the first only airline to fly to international destinations namely, Hong Kong, Colombo, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, Dubai, London, New York, and many more accounting to 20 international destinations.
This airline operates more than 400 flights to nearly 44 destinations within India.
