British Airways is the largest international airline in the fleet size in UK and covers many international destinations.
British Airways can be considered to run parallel with the civil aviation industry as Aircraft Transport and Travel, the British
Airways earlier company on August 25,1919 established the first daily scheduled international air service between London and Paris.
Later on in 1924, March 31, Britain’s four airlines, British Air Marine Navigation, Instone, Daimler Airways and Handley Page Transport were merged forming Imperial Airways Ltd.
within this period; many smaller UK air transport companies began their individual operations.
In 1935, these merged to form British Airways Ltd.
In 1939 November, the British Government nationalized British Airways and Imperial Airways to create (BOAC) British Overseas Airways Corporation, but it continued its operation for long-haul services and the domestic and continental European flights were operated by (BEA) British European Airways Corporation, a new airline. In 1972, BEA and BOAC were brought together under the
British Airways Board and the individual airlines were merged forming in 1974, the British Airways.
In 1981, the late Lord King, Sir John King decided to transform British Airways into a profit making airline and assumed the position with Colin Marshall as the CEO.
Their joint efforts made this airline into the most profitable carriers, besides proclaiming to be the worlds favorite airline. The king changed the image of the airline and in 1987; it led to privatization of British Airways.
In 1992, it paid exorbitant fine by running with Virgin Atlantic into hostile relation and in September 1998, British Airways agreed to form an alliance with American Airlines, Qantas, Cathay Pacific Airways and the now defunct Canadian Airlines so that they can be the largest airline alliance.
In 2008, British Airways emerged with OpenSkies, a new subsidiary to fly between Europe and the United States.
In 2010 July, British Airways received permission from the European Commission to merge with Iberia, the Spanish carrier and to co-ordinate on fares and transatlantic routes with American Airlines.
British Airways Airline is the second largest in Europe after Air France-KLM. The primary hubs are London Gatwick and Heathrow. This airway includes various subsidiary companies.
