Druk Air is the national carrier and flag holder of the Royal Kingdom of Bhutan.

It is the only airline allowed to fly in Bhutan. Despite the mountainous terrain, Druk Air has a very clean record of flight safety. This is due to rigorous training given to Druk Air pilots in maneuvering mountains and high altitude rough terrains.

The flight to Bhutan offers spectacular view of Himalayas and its snow caped peaks including Mount Everest. Druk Air is based at Paro International Airport, Thimpu, Bhutan.

Presently Durk Air connects Delhi, Kolkatta and Siliguri in India and is the only international airline in India to connect Bhutan.

Durk Air was founded in April, 1981 by the King of Bhutan with a Royal Decree. The airline started its operations in January, 1983, with a lone Dornier 228 airliner having 18 seats capacity. Initially, the airline was used for exclusive state visits by the King to various nations.

In November, 1988, the British made BAe 146-100 was introduced to connect Delhi, Katmandu and Bangkok.

This airline served 10 seats to executive travel with enhanced facilities. In the same year, Druk Air added Yongon in Myanmar to its

network. During 2004, Druk Air upgraded its fleet with Airbus 419 aircrafts, after disposing BAe 146.

The first commercial Druk Air flights commenced in October 2004, with the signing of agreements between India and Bhutan to improve their air links. As a result, Druk Air increased its services to India to forty per week.

At present Druk Air flights fly to India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Thailand.

In India, Delhi, Kolkatta and Siliguri are connected with Bhutan through Druk Air. This airline flies two Airbus A320-200 aircrafts at present and is planning to add more aircrafts to its fleet. It also is planning to add Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore in its destination map.

Bhutan is blessed with immense natural beauty with Himalayan mountain ranges, deep valleys and rain forest.

This country is the heaven for natural lovers and as a result the Durk Airline is the only airline flying Bhutan, and thereby has a great potential for growth in future.

Durk Air offers ticketing facilities through online websites and has its own offices in metro cities in India.
