Egypt Air is an Egyptian national and flag carrier based at Egypt. The airline has operational base at Cairo International Airport and is the 2nd largest airline in Africa.

Egypt Air offers scheduled flights to various domestic and international destinations. The company is fully owned by Egyptian government, but has functional autonomy as per provisions of special legislation.

It is a professionally managed organization and manages its own funding system without depending on the government. Horus, the Ancient Egyptian sky deity is the official logo of Egypt Air.

Egypt Air has got much recognition for its excellent service including 3 Star status by Skytrax in 2006, and IOSA (Operational Safety Audit) by IATA.

Egypt Airline provides important links to Africa and western world as an international airline in India.

In India, Egypt Air offers direct flights from many Indian cities including Mumbai and Delhi to various destinations in Africa and Europe.

Egypt Air was established in the month of May, 1932, and started its maiden flight in July 1933, between Cairo and Alexandria with a Spartan Cruiser aircraft. In 1946, the Egyptian government took over the airline and named it MisrAirlines and then MisrAir. During 1961, MisrAir joined hands with Syrian Airways and found United Arab Airlines.

MisrAir was first to induct Boeing 707s in the Middle-East in 1969.

The company changed its name to Egypt Air in 1971. During 2002, Egypt Air formed many subsidiaries in 2002, aiming to provide various aviation related services such as maintenance, ground handling, cargo movements, in-flight catering, tours and travels.

In June 2007, Egypt Air launched Egypt Air Express, an exclusive domestic airliner to serve local destinations.

Egypt Air flights span over 70 destinations around the world. The airline covers cities in USA, Canada, Mexico, Latin America, United Kingdom, France, Italy, Greece, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Germany, Cyprus, Hungary, Portugal and Spain.

Egypt Air Airlines also serve Asian countries, including Persian Gulf countries, India, China, Japan, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia and Singapore. Its African destinations include Morocco, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, South Africa, Kenya, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Nigeria, Congo and Senegal.

This airline offers flights to Australia and Oceana as well. Egypt Air maintains a fleet consists of 59 aircrafts manufactured by Boeing, Air Bus industries and Embraer.

The aircrafts include Airbus A320 200, A321 200, A330 300, A330 300, A340 300, Boeing B 737 500, 737 800, B 777 200ER and Embraer E 170. Egypt Air strives to maintain a young fleet offering world class service to its passengers.
