Egypt Air was established in the month of May, 1932, and started its maiden flight in July 1933, between Cairo and Alexandria with a Spartan Cruiser aircraft. In 1946, the Egyptian government took over the airline and named it MisrAirlines and then MisrAir. During 1961, MisrAir joined hands with Syrian Airways and found United Arab Airlines.
MisrAir was first to induct Boeing 707s in the Middle-East in 1969.
The company changed its name to Egypt Air in 1971. During 2002, Egypt Air formed many subsidiaries in 2002, aiming to provide various aviation related services such as maintenance, ground handling, cargo movements, in-flight catering, tours and travels.
