Ethiopian Airlines is the national airline and flag carrier of Ethiopia in Africa.

It is one of the oldest airliners in Africa, established in the year 1945 by the then Ethiopian Emperor, Haile Selassie. Ethiopian Airline is fully owned by the Ethiopian government and is among the four top airliners in Africa.

Ethiopian Airliner connects over 82 destinations around the world, both domestic and international destinations.

In India, Ethiopian airline runs scheduled services from Mumbai and Delhi to various African destinations.

Ethiopian Airline is the important link between India and Africa promoting trade and tourism in both countries.

Ethiopian Airline flights cover major destinations spanning different continents. The destinations include USA, Canada, Caribbean, Egypt, Ghana, Tanzania, Nigeria, Uganda, Burundi, Congo, Djibouti, Rwanda, Somalia, Senegal, and South Africa.

The Middle East destinations include Yemen, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Israel, UAE, Oman, and Qatar. Ethiopian airlines run scheduled services to South East Asia such as China, Thailand, India, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Its European destinations include UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Sweden and Netherlands.

Ethiopian Airlines has a strong fleet of 23 aircrafts consisting of ten Boeing 767-300 ER, eight Boeing 757-200, five Boeing 737-700, one Boeing 737-800 and five Fokker 50 aircrafts.

The main base hub is Bole International Airport, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. In India, Ethiopian Airline offices are in Mumbai and Delhi, and are one of the regular African international airlines in India.

It has also appointed a number of travel agents for ticketing and enquiries. Tickets can also be booked online using various travel websites. Ethiopian airline formed alliance with various airlines in order to swap passengers and cargo handling.

During 2007-08, Ethiopian Airline was peak in performance. The airline ferried around 2.5 million passengers and cornered over 500 million brr as net profit. Ethiopian airline has gone through two major accidents and resulted several loss of life.

On September 15th 1988, one of its Boeing 737 flight encountered engine failure during flight due to bird hit.

The crash landing caused loss of life to 31 passengers and crew members onboard.

The second accident occurred on November, 23rd 1996, when the aircraft went out of fuel during flight owing to hijacking by two persons.

They coerced the pilots to take the aircraft to Australia, but unfortunately as the fuel went off the aircraft crashed causing death to 123 passengers out of 175 onboard.
