Korean aviation history can be traced back to 1948, when the first airline Korea National Airline was founded by few private entrepreneurs. However, the excrement was flapped as the company failed to meet the requirement of passengers and became bankrupt in 1962. The Korean government made another attempt by setting up Korean Airline in the same year.
Unfortunately, that move also failed as the company made huge losses. During March, 1969, Korean Air was privatized and sold to Hanjin Transport Group.
This helped to revive the company and there was no looking back, there after. In 1973, Korean Air expanded its operations to many Pacific and Atlantic destinations after acquiring sophisticated Boeing 747 aircrafts to its fleets.
In the same year, it started operations to Paris and other European cities using Boeing 747-400’s and McDonald MD-11 aircrafts. The airline changed to its present name Korean Air in 1986, and became one of the successful international airliners.
