Kuwait Airways is the flag carrier of Kuwait and fully owned by the Kuwaiti government.

Kuwait airways was started by two enterprising businessmen in March, 1954. Originally, it was named as Kuwait National Airways and during 1958 it got the present name Kuwait Airways.
Between these periods, the airline went on drastic changes with inductions of modern aircrafts and other facilities. In 1960, Kuwait Airways expanded its operations to wider areas within Middle East. The airline upgraded its fleets with Comet 4-C Jets in 1962 and entered into Jet-age.
During 1970’s, the airline inducted Boeing 747 200 wide-bodied long haul aircrafts aiming to expand its operations to various destinations in the Middle East and South Asia.
During the Gulf War in 1990, Kuwait Airways faced many hardships. Due to invasion of Kuwait by Iraq, the airline shifted its base to Bahrain. After the war, the airline was back to Kuwait city and started consolidating its capabilities.
At present, it is one of the most efficient airlines operating in the Middle East.
The present fleet strength of Kuwait Airways consists of 22 aircrafts including, Boeing 747-400M, Boeing 777-200E, Airbus A340-300, A330-300, A320-22, A310-300 and A300-600. Kuwait airways plan to augment its fleet capacity to 80 by the end of 2012.
Presently, Kuwait airways flights cover 52 international destinations spanning 37 countries in Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.
In the Middle East, the airline fly to all gulf countries including Saudi Arabia, Yeman, UAE, Dubai, Bahrain, Syria, Jordan, and Iran.
Cheap Kuwait airways flights are available for India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Srilanka. In South East Asia, the airline covers Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
The airline runs several scheduled services to major European, North American, South American and African destinations. Recently Kuwait airways have entered into code-sharing agreements with other airlines including Etihad Airways, Tunisair, and Ethiopian Airlines in order to have access more destinations in their countries.
