LOT Polish Airlines is the Poland national airline based in Warsaw. LOT represents flight and its Polskie Linie Lotnicze is the polish name meaning Polish Airlines.

LOT Polish Airlines was founded on 1st January by the Polish government as a state-owned enterprise that was governed privately.
Its operations commenced on 2nd January and the foremost international flight on 2nd august 1929, took off to Vienna. The airlines started international routes to Berlin, Bucharest, Athens, Beirut, Helsinki, Rome, and various other destinations. However, the Second World War suspended its services as most LOT aircrafts were damaged or detained.
LOT Polish Airlines in 1945 was recreated by the Polish government such that it resumed domestic and international operations in the next year, 1946. In 1992, it became a joint stock company resulting in partial privatization in 1999.
Conversely, the polish government owns nearly 68% of the company, having 25.1% with Towarzystwo Finansowe Silesia and 6.93% with employees.
