Uzbekistan Airways is the national airliner of Uzbekistan, a former member of Soviet Union.

After Soviet Union disintegration, Uzbekistan realized the need for establishing proper transport infrastructure to develop its economy.

This led to formation of Uzbekistan Airways by Islam Karimove, Former President of Uzbekistan in 1992.

The first inaugural flight was flown from Tashkent to London announcing the world that the country is capable of having its own airliner.

Uzbekistan Airways manages countries’ 11 airports including 6 international airports.

The main gateway to Uzbekistan is Tashkent International Airport that receives around 90% of international travelers every year.

Uzbekistan Airways flights connect around 51 destinations including 40 international cities. The network includes United States, Europe, India, Japan, China, Pakistan, Middle East, CIS countries, Thailand and South Korea.

In India, Uzbekistan Airways run scheduled flights to Amritsar and New Delhi and serve as one of the main international airlines in India connecting Russia and CIS countries with India.

This route helps Indian business and industry to access former Soviet Union states via Uzbekistan. Traditionally, India had very strong relations with Uzbekistan.

The famous Tashkent Agreement which ended the Indo-Pakistan war in 1972 was signed between Indian Prime Minister Lalbahadur Sastri and Pakistan leader Yahaya Khan in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
