Bajaj Avenger
The guys at Bajaj motors surely know how to attract people and staying ahead of time and of course the Hero Honda is there cup of tea, as if Bajaj Pulsar was not enough of a night mare for all the other bike producers in India that Bajaj in collaboration with Kawasaki launched Eliminator the first true cruiser bike for the country the closest counter parts being Royal Enfield Bullet series but they were too old to attract the newer generation.
For starters, the Bajaj Avenger was launched in 2007, with a 200cc oil cooled engine which happened to be a first of its kind in India.
It is fully feature packed with a modified engine of Pulsar 200, giving 5 bhp power and 0.4 kgf•m (4 N•m) torque less than the Pulsar.
The bike has a top speed of 114 km/h and can go 0 to 60 km/h in about 5.2 seconds flat and 0 to 100 km/h in around 20 seconds.
It has the longest wheel base of 1475mm the longest any Indian bike had till now.
With a fuel capacity of 14liters and the title of being the first and only indigenous Indian cruiser bikes make it compete with rarely any other bike in its segment, priced at only Rs65000/- Ex Show room (without taxes and insurance) this bike is idle for highway riders and the adventure loving lot.
Bajaj Avenger’s transmission houses 5 speed gear box and generates maximum power output of 12.88kw or 17hp at 8000rpm and a maximum torque of 16.78nm or 12 lb ft at 6000 rpm.
With all this wonder figures for a bike and the oil cooled technology used in cars to be implemented on a bike was achievement in itself, kudos to team Bajaj for creating India’s only Cruiser Bike the Bajaj Avenger for which even the Hero Hondas have no answer yet.
