Hero Honda Motors Ltd is the world’s 3rd largest manufacturer of motorcycles after Yamaha and Honda.

This motor company is based in Delhi, India and is a joint venture of Honda Japan and Hero Group of India.

It is the world’s largest manufacturer of 2 wheeled motorized vehicles and lived up to its world title when it produced 1.3 million bikes in one year.

To meet the demand for its motorcycles, Hero Honda has 2 plants in Gurgaon and Dharuhera, India.

Back in the 1970s, all Indian vehicles were known to release toxins into the air. In 1980s, Hero Honda proved to the Indians that it is possible to have cars that don’t pollute the environment. The company did this buy manufacturing motorcycles that saved fuel and had low emissions.

Most bikes sold in India roll out from the two manufacturing plants. Both these plants are capable of producing 3.9 million bikes annually. It is said that in every second a person buys a motocycle in India it is usually from Hero Honda India.

It is also said that every 30 seconds someone in India is buying the company’s top selling motorcycle that is known as Splendor. Due to the high demand the company’s service networks have been expanded to 3000 around India. Hero Honda believes in keeping close contact with its customers.

If we look back in time when this company started we can agree that it has come a long way. Back in the days, the Munjal family which owned the company used to produce bicycles. In 2002 they produced 16,000 bicycles daily and sold 86 million in a short time.

The company has grown from producing only bicycles to 9 different models of motorcycles. Its Splendor model is considered the world’s most popular bike. As the world’s largest seller of 3 wheeler bikes, Hero Honda Motors sold 3 million bikes between the years 2005 and 2006.

As of today, this company is now manufacturing lady or girls scooters named Pleasure. Hero’s phenomenal growth is as a result of their constant innovation.
