Toyota Kirloskar Motor was established in October 1997 as a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan and Kirloskar Group of India.

The company has two offices, one in Ne Delhi and the other in Bangalore. Toyota Kirloskar Motors have adopted the unique approach to business found at Toyota Motor Corporation Japan.

However, this is only to be expected as Toyota Motor Corporation Japan has a controlling interest of 89% and Kirloskar Group of India has 11% equity holding.
