Toyota Cars India
Toyota came into being in October 1997 when the Kirloskar Group of India and Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan came together in a joint venture.
The offices of the company are in Bangalore and New Delhi. Just like the Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan, Toyota India follows a unique business approach.
This however does not come as a surprise since Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan has over 89% shareholding of the company while the remaining 11% shareholding is held by Kirloskar Group of India.
The basic aim is to have long term business sustainability in the company and every employee is expected to contribute in making this possible by pointing out problems and analyzing them. Moreover, employees are encouraged to think out of the box and accept conventional attitudes which and hence build a strong workforce team.
Toyota India has continued to grown in the Indian automobile industry and the management attributes this growth to keeping the needs of the customers first. Caring for customers is one of the important philosophies of Toyota.
The company seeks to build a lasting relationship with customers by providing them with quality products at affordable prices as well as tailoring its products to meet the needs of the customers. The products are made through the cooperation of the team members and this seems to address exactly what the customers want.
After the Rio “Earth Summit” held in 1992, Toyota Japan came up with guiding principles that outlined the objectives and actions of Toyota towards sustainable development. Toyota India adopted these guidelines and as a result ensures harmonious relationship between the employees as well as building their cooperation to face the challenges that face the automobile industry.
Sales Increase
The guiding principles seem to be effective as in July 2008; the company started building its second manufacturing plant. The plant is situated in Kamataka and is expected to be completed by 2010. When it opens after completion, it is expected to produce 100,000 vehicles every year and this will put Toyota in the frontline of automobile manufacturers in India.
Currently, Toyota manufactures the Innova minivan series. In 2007, it sold more than 52,000 units of the model. This was an increase of 18% compared to the previous year. Other cars produced by the company are Toyota Corolla, Camry, Prado and Innova. Toyota India stands out as one of the most successful automobile manufacturers in India.
