Volvo India has been in the Indian market since 1927 and ranks among the leading auto manufactures in India, not only producing heavy commercial automobiles, but also buses and cars.
The production factory was established in mid-1998. It is based in Hoskote, near Bangalore and stands on an areas covering 122 acres.
Volvo India has created employment for about 1000 Indians in the country.
This leading automobile company in India has a global presence, being found in over 130 countries, with a dealership network of over 650 dealers, and 1,450 service workshops and employs more than 81,000 employees. Volvo also has production units in 125.
In India, Volvo has its business enterprises across a broad spectrum of auto motives. Their market segmentation includes trucks, buses, marine and industrial, construction equipment, and power systems.
As regards the trucks, over 90% of these are built in the heavy weight category of over 16 tons. This makes Volvo the third largest assembler of heavy-duty truck in the world
Volvo has 9 plants that deal with assembling located around the world and eight factories that are controlled by local shareholders.
Moreover, India has emerged as a supporting base for Volvo International Group, whose current focus is to expand growth in Asian markets. This expansion strategy is witnessed in their recent establishment in product development, IT sourcing, coupled with the exportation of buses and trucks certain selected market.
In India Volvo India, has its operations integrated through a national sales service and parts network overseeing more than 150 sales and/or service points.

More than 14,000 have been trained at the plant’s centre for training drivers in Hoskote and also other regional centres. This training is to emphasise that good driving is the underpinning element for better and saver roads.
