Abhishek Bachchan is the most popular name in Bollywood, acted in many films and known for playing versatile characters. He is the son of veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan and made his acting debut in Hindi film with Refugee, directed by J.P. Dutta, released in 2000.

Personal Life

Abhishek Bachchan was born on February 5, 1976 in the family of Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He has an elder sister named Shweta Nanda, who is married.

Abhishek is the grandson of famous Hindi poet Harivansha Rai Bachchan, who was also a professor at Allahabad University in Uttar Pradesh.

Abhishek Bachchan completed his schooling from Jamnabai Narsee School and Bombay Scottish School in Mumbai. He then went to Boston University for completing higher education.

Abhishek's engagement with popular actress Karisma Kapoor was announced on his 60th birthday celebration by his family. However, the engagement finally called off due to some reasons and they were separated for ever. He then tied the knot with Miss World Aishwarya Rai in January 14, 2007.

Career

Abhishek Bachchan made his debut in Bollywood with film Refugee in 2000, the film was directed by veteran director J.P. Dutta, earned mixed response at the box office. After that he made his appearance in some other films like Kuchh Na Kaho, Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai and Main Prem ki Diwani Hoon.

In 2004, he was offered a role by Mani Ratnam in film Yuva where he proved his actual talent. The film became super hit at the box office and he got huge acclamation for his performance by audience. The success followed by Dhoom that became the biggest hit of the year and earned huge revenue.

The success story continued with the next film Bunty Aur Babli that was released in 2005 and declared a super hit at the box office. After that he acted in many films like Kabhi Alvida Na Kahna, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, and more films.

Abhishek got major break in the form of Guru, co-starred Aishwarya Rai and directed Mani Ratnam. The film was released in 2008 and explored record-braking response at the box-office. He recently appeared in Game and Dum Maro Dum. Besides, his upcoming flicks are Players, Bol Bachchan and Dhoom 3.
