Irfan Khan
Sahabzade Irfan Ali Khan who is known as Irfan khan is a great and very talented actor. He was born on 30th November, 1962, born in Jaipur to a Muslim family.
He got married in 1995 with writer Sutapa Sikdar and have two kids from her. He was studying his masters and got a scholarship to study at National School of Drama in New Delhi.
Before getting into films he has done many best rated serials, for instance Chandrakanta, Banegi apni baat and many more. He has also played very important role of a famous revolutionary Urdu poet and Marxist political activist of India Makhdoom Mohiuddin in Kankashan.
He was very busy in theater and television and once Mira Nair offered him cameo in Salaam Bombay but his role was edited out of the film after that he did many films that actually went unnoticed.
After so many unsuccessful and unnoticed films he was noticed by the London based director Asif Kapadia who offered him The Warriors which changed his complete life. Suddenly he became very famous.
After that he did a short film with Indian director “Road to Ladakh” which received accolades internationally and now the film is being produced again in full length with Irfan Khan. In that year only he also played very critically acclaimed role in 'Maqbool' which was an adaptation of Shakespeare's “Macbeth”. His performances have always been praised by the critics.
There was a critique who wrote that “Irfan's eyes speak louder than his words”. In his movie 'Hassil 'he also got filmfare best villain award.
Critiques also praised his performance a lot and wondered what e will do next. In 2007 he did movie 'Life in a Metro' and bagged best supporting actor award and also did 'Namesake', it was performance packed movie. He is also very down to earth and doesn't feel bad doing serials even after getting so much success in film industry. He has hosted a program named “Mano Ya Na Mano”.
He has many awards on his name like two Filmfare awards, a screen actors guild award and an independent spirit award nomination.
Not only this he is also the recipient of 2011 Padma Shri award which is very prestigious one. Not only in India but he is also internationally acclaimed actor. His family members say that he has always been very much focused and dedicated towards his work. |
