Personal Information
Mithun Chakraborty is the most recognized name in Hind Film, who acted in many films and won various awards including three National Awards. He grabbed the wonderful opportunity to make his acting debut with arthouse drama Mrigaya and won the first National Award.
He established himself as a popular dancing star by playing the character of Jimmy in Hindi film Disco Dancer in 1982 and explored huge fame worldwide.
After that he was roped into different characters in many films such as Pyaar Jhukta Nahin, Pyaar Ka Mandir, Pyaar Hua Chori, Trinetra, Teesra Kaun, Loha, Shapath and many more.
Early Life
Mithun Chakraborty was born on June 16, 1950 in Kolkata in a Bengali Hindu family. He attended Orerintal Seminary and completed his education.
He further completed his graduation from Scottish Church College that is located in Kolkata. After that he attended Film and Television Institute of India in Pune and learned important lessons of acting.
Beside, he also learned the important technique of martial arts arts before getting into the film industries. Mithun tied the knot with the popular film actress Yogeeta Bali and having four children
Film Career
Mithun Chakraborty moved to Bombay (now Mumbai) to join the film industry as an actor, finally got a chance to make his acting debut with Mrinal Sen's Mrigaya in 1976 and honored with the most prestigious National Film Award for Best Actor.
After that, he grabbed the opportunity to work with superstar Amitabh Bachchan in Do Anjaane led his appearance in several other movies Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan, Hamara Sansar and Amar Deep and more.
In 1982, he played a lead character of street dancer in Disco Dancer that explored an overwhelming response at the box office and made him popular overnight.
The huge success of the film paved a way for Mithun, who then made his appearance in various other superhit films like Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, Mujhe Insaaf Chahiye, Pyaar Jhukta Nahin and more. He again shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in Ganga Jamuna Saraswati in 1980s, but it was declared as a flop film at the box office.
In 1990s, he was seen in many films like Pyar Ka Karz, Pyar Ka Devta, Trinetra, Mere Sajana Saath Nibhana and more. After that he decided to take a break from film and made his comeback in Bollywood with film Elaan in 2005.
