Early Life
Combining roles as a Bollywood actress, news anchor and a video jockey, Neelam Kothari has really done it all.

Neelam spent most of her childhood life in the city of Hong Kong from 1970, the year she was born.

Later at the age of about six she together with her family relocated to Bangkok to continue their jewelry trade.

On screen debut
Listed among the best Bollywood actresses of her age, Neelam made her maiden film debut in ‘Jawani’ in 1984 alongside Karan Shah and literally swept movie fans and pundits off their feet with her classy dialogue and cute doll-like demeanor. Ramesh Behl discovered this talented hot celebrity India but unfortunately in the box office the movie didn’t do well. The 1986 movie ‘Ilzaam’ coupled with shows done together with Govinda catapulted her to popularity and fame.

Career
From about the end of 1980 the Bollywood actress made movies upon movies with mixed success and reviews but the 1998 Kuch Kuch Hota Hai movie was a huge success sealing her fame among critics and enthusiasts. In the movie she played a cameo role as a video Jockey.

Jewelry
Neelam jewels are now well known, the Bollywood actress must have learnt at the feet of her parents and alongside her acting career she joined her family business to design jewelry. This forced her to leave acting in 1999 to concentrate on a trade she got grips of in Mumbai. Her maiden display was opened in a Mumbai store in 2001 and has not looked back ever since.

Private life
The Bollywood celebrity has beaten odds that included opposition from her husband’s Rishi family about their marriage. Neelam married Rishi Sethia in Hong Kong. Sethia came from a stinking rich United Kingdom entrepreneur family of which they later got divorced citing irreconcilable differences.
