Early life
With a successful movie career covering a span of a half a century Nirupa Roy was considered the consummate mother figure in all her movies.
The Bollywood celebrity was born in 1931 and before she died from a cardiac arrest in 2004 having lived for 73 years, the Bollywood actress had appeared in over 250 movies.
Considered as one of the best Bollywood actresses of the century, she got married to Kamal Roy when she was just 15 years of age, had two children with him and unfortunately lost her children every time a movie came her way.
On screen debut
The Bollywood celebrity debuted in the 1940s and was the figure of fairy tale goddesses. The hot celebrity in India made long lasting friends with Ashtok Kumar, Trilok Kapoor, Balraj Sahni and Bharat Bhushan.
Career
Amitabh Bachchan took Nirupa’s fame to a whole new level in the 1970s; Amitabh, the angry son created a scenario of a discontented son and a suffering mother who often seemingly carelessly lost her children in every movie unfortunately receiving the MTV award of the most horrible babysitter on screen.
The Bollywood actress however with her incredible talent took home thrice the coveted Film Fare Best Supporting Actress Award. The awards were presented to her in three different locations, namely, Munimji in 1955-her first, Chhaya in 1961 and Shehnai in 1964-her last; these awards were her seal in the India’s hall of fame.
The hot celebrity in India was well known for her traditional sari and mother roles to which she played with such gusto that every subsequent mother figure actress is told to play like her or hit the road. She was simply the consummate idol for all Indian actresses who wanted to make it big in the industry.
Every Indian fan who watched her can still remember the Bachchan and Nirupa, mother and son feuds. Their roles were so poignant that it took the exact similitude of parental verses children fighting acts and scenario.
