Hindi cinema is a big dimension with numerous people involved in it.

There are many actors and actresses in Bollywood and equal number of talented as well as accomplished directors delivering their best in numerous movies.

The lineage of bollywood directors probably begins with Pramathesh Chandra Barua. His film Devdas set a different cult. He made a series of Bengali movies.

His films gained utmost popularity that his movie ‘Devdas’ was remade in 2002. Mehboob Khan is a filmmaker known for his magnum opus in the form of his movie ‘Mother India’. There are other movies that set him apart in his period such as ‘Aan’.

Bimal Roy deserves a mention in the list of famous bollywood directors. He was an ace cameraman and had even assisted during the making of the movie ‘Devdas’.

His landmark movie was definitely ‘Do Bigha Zamin’. He made one good movie after the other. His career landmark movies include ‘Parineeta’, ‘Bandini’, ‘Sujata’, etc. Guru Dutt is a person who does not require any introduction.

He blended subjectivity with élan. His contributions are movies such as ‘Pyaasa’, “Chaudhavin ka Chand’, “Kaagaz ke Phool’, etc. He introduced the talented Waheeda Rehman to movies.

Raj Kapoor is a bollywood director who is known for setting up a new trend in movies. He had a distinct way of merging meaningful movies with commercial ideas.

His mastery can be confirmed as he never crossed the limits of commercial movies. His movies deal with concepts such as widowhood, adolescent problems, single mother, etc. He was even a good actor.

He even brought movies such as ‘Shree 420’, ‘Mera Naam Joker’, ‘Prem Rog’, etc. His time is remembered as a separate era in Indian film industry.

After all these directors are many more bollywood directors such as Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Yash Chopra, Saeed Akhtar Mirza, Govind Nihalani, etc. Other directors flourished following Yash Chopra’s style are Mahesh Bhatt, Omprakash Mehra, Ashutosh Gowarikar, etc.
