Singers are very important for every Indian movie. It is extremely difficult to imagine a movie without songs.

These songs have to be sung by singers who are well versed with music.

This requires singers who exactly fill into all the description that is required for a particular song.

As such, there is a lot of fanfare for bollywood singers. The most famous bollywood singer is probably Lata Mangeshkar.

She entered the industry in 1942 and has been singing for six and a half decades. She has sung songs in more than 20 languages and 980 movies.

She is the second singer to receive the nation’s highest civilian honor – the Bharat Ratna. Asha Bhonsle is another prominent bollywood singer and the younger sister of Lata Mangeshkar.

Her career started in 1943 and has stretched for more than 950 bollywood movies. She has sung in over 14 languages such as Urdu, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Czech, Malay, Marathi and many others.

Mohammed Rafi is one of the well remembered as well as most loved singers of all times. His songs created a sensation during his times and are still some of the best songs.

The songs sung by Mohammed Rafi are prominent even among the Indian diaspora. The other singers such as Kishore Kumar and Mukesh, Mohammed Rafi were one of the golden singers in Bollywood.

Manna Dey, whose original name was Prabodh Chandra Dey, was a leading bollywood singer who also sang in other vernacular languages. His songs created sensation whenever they were played and people remembered his songs by each and every verse.

Hariharan is another versatile singer whose contributions to bollywood can never be forgotten. He has sung several songs in different languages and has even produced an album called ‘Colonial Cousins’ along with Leslie Lewis.

Though he is famous for his ghazal singing, his style is totally based on Indian fusion music. There are other famous singers in bollywood such as Sonu Nigam, Alka Yagnik, Udit Narayan, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, etc
