Resignation Email

Resignation email has become common in the recent years and is considered as organization etiquettes to be followed.

 

This is an official document that an employee submits announcing his resignation to the organization. He accepts serving the notice period as per company rules.

 

You can send a resignation email to your HR professional. This is easier, but some view it as unprofessional, though the medium is only different.

 

Format of Resignation Email

 

Write the resignation email but firstly mention it in the subject.

 

The purpose should be specified. You should acknowledge the person and your resignation email should have three to four paragraphs.

 

Firstly, write you are resigning the company, the date it is going to be effective. Later, mention the reason in the next and in the transition process offer your help. Finally, focus on your positive experience with the company in few lines to make your email perfect.

Resignation email to clients is must, if you have served the company for many numbers of years. It is best to inform your clients regarding your resignation. However, before sending the email, confirm with your boss.

Send a resignation email to your colleagues as well. It is necessary, though it need not be very formal. It is just saying goodbye in a casual and positive way. Mention the reason for quitting the job, but avoid bragging your new position and your salary details.

Start with Email subject line as Resignation.

This should be followed with Dear Mr or Ms., the name of the employer.

 

The body part can state ‘I am resigning effective from the date and the decision was not easy and had taken hours of contemplation in deciding to join a new company.

You can also state that you are doing this for your future career growth.

 

State you accept working in the notice period and will handover everything in detail.

You can also specify that you will be happy to help, if any assistance is required’.

 

Finally, thank them for giving you an opportunity to learn and work and wish them a bright future. This should be followed with ‘Sincerely and your name’.
