Festivals in India- Pushkar Fair

Pushkar Fair is celebrated annually in Rajasthan with great enthusiasm. This festival is celebrated in the Brahma temple that is sited in Pushkar.

The Pushkar fair is a wonderful occasion celebrated in the month of November on the Karthik Purnima day as it is a strong belief that Lord Brahma, Vishnu and many others bathe in the Pushkar Lake.

Hence, this is regarded to be a holy bath on this auspicious occasion.

This festival is the hub for Rajasthan cultural activities. People coming from far off places as well take part in this festival celebration.

There are tents in the name of the villages they are coming from. Various cultural events, there is also herd of cattle coming here for trading and show.

Pushkar fair is synonymous to the cattle fair and this is one of the best places for the merchants and the villagers to meet and go for barter exchange.

The cattle are decorated in good colors so that the buyers or the tourist get attracted. Numerous competitions are involved with cattle during this festival. The cattle and camel race as well is conducted here and the power of camels is tested.

The maximum number of people carried on the camel back is announced as the winner. Other events such as the magic and cattle fashion show is thoroughly enjoyed are very much a part of this event.

Rajasthan comes out with its culture through folk lores, dance performances and music. The exhibitions, cultural events and movies replicate the opulent Rajasthan culture.

The other attractions represent the Ghats and temples that are decorated and worshipped. The process takes place and the temples in Pushkar springs with life with all these celebrations.

The Ghats are as well enveloped with abundant shops having all the Rajasthan favorites. The decorative items sold include the saddles, beads and saddle straps for the cattle.

There are silver ornaments, garments, bead necklaces, jewelry and fabrics also sold at the Ghat. Tattoo lovers can have a fascinating time as there are stalls to tattoo all over the body.

Pushkar fair is special as it denotes the rustic culture as well as the rural tradition. This fair is special in the modern days as people are held in the clutches of busy schedule and are unable to spend time to such activities, besides hanging around shopping mall and watching video movies.

Pushkar fair is one of the grandeurs of Rajasthan that is alive with mutiny of colors and gives an opportunity to see women in ghagaras, men in turbans and the fair brings the utmost charm of this festival.
