Jennifer’s original last name was actually Anastassakis, but her family changed it when they moved to the U.S. from Greece. Her Father John Aniston was an actor who starred as Victor Kiriakis on the daytime soap Days of Our Lives. Her mother Nancy Aniston was an actress, and also an ex-model.Jennifer Aniston is the goddaughter of the late Telly Savalas (of Kojak fame).

After living in Greece with her family as a young child, Jennifer's parents got divorced, forcing Jennifer to live with her mother in New York City as of age 9. Most of Aniston's childhood days were spent in Greece and hence she can technically be called a Greek.

Initially she was living with her family but later, moved to New York when her father landed a role on the daytime drama, Love of Life. Her parents had a separation when she was 9 years old and she started living with her mother in New York City.
