Stunning, gorgeous determined Melanie character is played by Reese Witherspoon. This movie is about a young fashion designer who is based in New York fashion industry.

She runs off her rural Alabama locale and high school-sweetheart husband whose character is played by Josh Lucas. She leaves them behind courtesy Manhattan's glamorous fashion and social circles.

Designer Melanie Carmichael is now asked out by her most cherished Park Avenue boyfriend. But Melanie's has way too many secrets that she is holding behind her and can’t seem get rid off. Well this one includes the worst which is her husband Jake.

She got married to him when she was barely in the high school and who outright refuses to divorce her almost 5 years from now.

She makes up her mind that now would be the right time to go back home and finally get the divorce papers signed once and for all and have settled everything. However what she forgets to contemplates over is if it would be so easy for her to get over her past.

She is one of the top rated and most glamorous fashion designer whose career is now at her peak .however later on the movies it only becomes more obvious that things are certainly not moving the way she expected them to. She then realizes that what she had while she was in the south was far more wonderful than the life she was living in the New York City.
