Occasions in India- Republic Day

India is a country having a fascinating historic background speaking about the freedom struggle.

India won independence on 15th August in the year 1947. However, it took a period of two and half years to acquire the Indian constitution existence.

This was received on 26th January 1950. This day called as Republic day was declared as a national holiday in the aim of marking the transition of India from a British Dominion.

This is one of the significant national holidays celebrated in India. The opulent nurtured history can be realized with the celebration of the Republic day in India.

The transition period was during 1947 to 1950. This day, republic day on 26th January was when Dr. Rajendra Prasad was the first president and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was the constituent assembly head.

All the great leaders played a vital role in the constitution formation identical to acquiring freedom. Republic day is an important occasion in India. A grand parade is conducted at New Delhi, the capital of India.

This is done near the Rashtrapati Bhavan and passes along the Rajpath, India gate to the historic red fort. The president of India always takes the first solute and the army, navy and air force march in their official decorations.

This parade also encompasses military men on horses and other displays such as missiles and tanks. This ceremony ends with a fly past done by the air force jets.

Republic day is celebrated in the state capitals as well on a smaller scale and the governor of that state is asked to unfurl the national flag. In case of the absence of the governor, the chief minister unfurls the national flag.

Children of the schools march past the hoisted flag and conducts small ceremony. Children are given sweets and flag and all pay respect to the flag on the republic day.

National pride, patriotic fervor and ardent devotion fill every Indian with emotions. However, they enjoy the spirit of freedom and the achievement of independent constitution.

The recognition of a sovereign, democratic and secular nation that survives on the principles of liberty, equality, justice and fraternity is the actual pride.

The significance of the republic day is the realization of the independence. This day is celebrated so that it has the reflection of being united despite diversities in lifestyle, culture, traditions, religions, customs and languages.

Saluting motherland on this day of significance came into force earlier and can be felt even today from each Indian citizen. The Republic Day echoes the journey from a colonized country to an independent Indian nation. This is certainly a matter of pride as well as honor for all free birds, called as Indians.
