World Environment Day falls on June 5th every year and is celebrated in over 100 countries.

The year 2009 is expected to show climate change and the consequence of it has to be handled by the societies.

Combating and preserving the ecosystems is the main issue and hence individual efforts are highly essential.

Even if it is a small contribution towards sustaining the development of the economy and community, it is mandatory.

The World Environment day is the day when non-governmental organizations, industries, businesses, youth groups, individuals, community and media organize and renew their dedication to protect as well as develop the environment.

The world environment day organizes activities such as tree planting, cleaning up campaigns, green concerts, colorful street rallies, photo competitions and essay writing.

All this is done focusing the environment and its importance so that awareness is created. India is a land of rich culture and heritage and has rivers running through nourishing the land.

India has long extensive deserts and deltas, mighty mountains and the bounty of nature is very beautiful. But, these glories are now going out of the clutches in India resulting in major environmental issues.

Industrialization and urbanization have created much pollution in the rivers such as Ganga, Yamuna, Brahmaputra, Yamuna and Cauvery. The mining industries leave the sand bed to get exposed to clay.

Thereby the exposed pollution reaches the banks of the rivers and forms a black stream. Industrial development in India has contributed to the economic growth and has lead to environmental crisis.

The crowded cities end up polluting the air in the form of vehicle emissions and industrial smoke. The air pollution is an issue in the Indian cities and it is uncontrollable.

The ongoing population is also causing greater strain on the land. The deforestation as well as destruction of wildlife has shown a true change in the seasons.

India has contributed to the world environment crisis by doing the nuclear tests a Pokhran. Scientists performing theses tests achieved fame and India accomplished power. But, the negative effects owing to explosion went unnoticed.

The world environment day can be made significant in India by making applicable sources to renew the energy in various forms such as wind, solar and hydro power electricity.

These energy sources will also assist in reducing the metropolis pollution. Proper plans about the industries will save the India environment.

Taking resolution is not enough, but putting the resolution in the proper form and acquiring the strength to end the environment problems is mandatory. This will certainly save the Indian environment as well as have the proper meaning of world environment day.
