GWALIOR USHA KIRAN PALACE
Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia, built a Palace as a guest house for his European friends and visitors. The new Palace was adjoining the Jai Vilas Palace and was named after his daughter USHA RAJE. The architecture of the palace is in the spirit of Gwalior 18 -19th century period. It has Jali work on the windows, mighty pillars, stone carvings and is spread over an area of approx 100 acres. The rooms are well furnished with old furniture - beautiful and authentic
ORCHHA SHEESH MAHAL
In Orchha there are three large independent palaces representing three distinct periods. The first palace was Ramji Mandir,begun by Rudra Pratap in 1501 and continued into the reign of his successor Bharti Chand(1531-54). The second palace was Raj Mandir, built upon an island within the River Betwa by Madhukar Shah(1554-92) throughout the period of his reign and possibly into that of his son Ram Shah(1592-1605). The third palace is Jahangir Mahal,constructed in honour of the Mughal emperor by Bir Singh Deo from 1605, on the site of an earlier structure built around 1586. All three palaces are square courtyard structures with plain crenellated exterior walls crowned by cendtops. It has 8 rooms decorated with old furnishing and attached bath.
