It is always recommended to visit Khajuraho between 25th February to 2nd March, as this is the period to celebrate the world famous Khajuraho dance festival. This internationally famed dance festival is held each year and you will thoroughly enjoy this grand event. This classical dance festival is held to celebrate the glory of the various temples of Khajuraho. The festival draws the best classical dancers from around the country, who perform against the spectacular backdrop of the floodlit temples.

The western group of temples acts as the exquisite backdrop for the performers - usually the Chitragupta Temple and the Vishwanatha Temple. You will have to reach the venue in the evening. The temples is lit up with thousands of shimmering fairy lights. This dream sight will truly be a feast for your eyes and senses.

The Festival displays various classical styles of Indian dance such as Kathak, Bharat Natyam, Odissi, Kuchipudi, Manipuri and Kathakali. Every evening, two accomplished artists from different genres perform in the open-air auditorium. Artists and dancers celebrate this event with excellent dance and music pieces, specifically created for this occasion. You could not help but watch the dance with undivided attention.
