Religions in India-Hinduism

Hinduism is the oldest religion and has more than billion followers. This makes it one of the largest religions.

Hinduism cannot be categorized into any belief system. It is a conglomeration of philosophical, religious and cultural practices and ideas originated in India.

The Hindus have great belief in reincarnation and in following the righteousness path. They adhere to the cycle of births and deaths and follow the principles as per the custom and tradition.

Hinduism though a religion is a path to life which states as Dharma. Dharma refers to the law governing each and every action.

This has its own traditions, beliefs, meaningful rituals, theology, ethics and philosophy. The tradition of Hinduism is responsible for creating original practices and concepts such as Ayurveda, Yoga, Yajna, Vedanta, Jyotish, Puja, Tantra and Karma.

Hinduism originated in the remote past and it is difficult to trace the path of its origin. The scholars believe Hinduism existed in 10000 B.C. However, the Rig Veda is considered to be the earliest scriptures of Hinduism.

Hinduism this word cannot be found in the scriptures. Foreigners introduced this word called Hindu and they referred to the people living on the River Indus and hence the belief originated that the Vedic religion initiated in this place.

Hinduism has diverse traditions and beliefs and the prominent themes comprise of Dharma, Karma, Samsara and Moksha, where in Dharma refers to the ethics as well as duties, Karma meant right action, Samsara refers to rebirth and Moksha meant the liberation from the Samsara cycle.

Hinduism believes very strongly in honesty, truth, celibacy, contentment, non-violence, cleanliness, austerity, prayers, penance, perseverance and pious company. Hindus are people who accept and live following the religious Vedic scriptures and its guidance.

The Hindu tradition is the oldest and offers continuous enlightenment. Hinduism is referred as shastras and this is discovered by sages and saints. This refers to the spiritual laws collection.

Hindu scriptures are of two types Shruti and Smriti and this was passed to generations orally prior to putting down in writing in the Sanskrit language. The Hindu texts comprise of Bhagavad-Gita, epics such as Mahabharata and Ramayana and the Upanishads.

Hinduism believes in the supreme called Brahma. The Hindu gods and goddesses are in millions and represent various aspects of Brahma. This is characterized in various deities.

The Trinity of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu is considered as the fundamental deities and they represent to be the creator, preserver and the destroyer. Hindus worship trees, spirits, animals and as well the planets.
