Sports in India - Squash

Squash is widely played in India. This has its origin many years back, but has acquired great popularity as sports in India.

This game is managed as well as run by many state and national level associations. These associations are trying to bring India into the best levels.

These associations emerged in the twentieth century and are an indispensable part of the Indian squash management.

These associations are sited in majority of the parts in India with the aim of spreading this game throughout India. The governing body in India for squash is the Squash rackets federation of India.

This was established in the objective of better management and also to develop the interest in the nook and corners of India. Squash federation is taking innovative steps and lots of initiatives about conducting training camps as well as organizing the tournaments at the national as well as the state levels.

The squash federation is promoting the game at various state levels and is conducting the national squash championship. It selects the squad for Indian team and is also in charge for choosing coaches required to train the national team.

The squash federation has made arrangements for giving training in Squash with ICL TNSRA academy for young players and this academy also has the pride of hosting the 2007 world team championship.

There are many state level associations working to develop the conditions required for playing squash and are aiming to bring new talents. The state associations are bringing new talents from respective states and are introducing them to the national levels.

They organized several tournaments as well as training camps so that the squash players are offered better facilities. However, majority of the Indian states have their squash associations and the major squash association in the state level includes the Andaman and Nicobar association, the Chandigarh squash rackets association and the squash rackets association Bihar.
